As a starting post, I would like to begin with the many issues Muslims face today. Most of these are linked to terrorism and extremism or are caused by them.
One of the problems are anti-muslim attacks. These are caused by people who blame the whole population of Muslims rather than the specific individual, for a terrorist attack which was purely not their fault. After events such as 9/11 and the Paris attacks, there has been a major/massive increase in the anti-muslim attacks. However, the thing is, though we think that Islamophobia had stopped before those attacks, it hadn’t. It only decreased but after these unfortunate events, people just found another reason to justify themselves for blaming Muslims and Islam. Furthermore, Muslims are being penalised in society regardless of what country they are in. In addition, it has previously been suggested that a database should be made of all Muslims. This will not improve the matter but will only deteriorate it to the point where it cannot be fixed. In addition, a woman had recently been taken off from a plane to be interrogated as she adorned a headscarf and was also travelling to Turkey. Groups such as ISIS increase such suspicions. Additionally, ISIS also commits crimes in the name of Islam and justifies them through what was written in the Qu’ran. They also think that they are doing these things on behalf of the entire population of Muslims. Thereafter, rendering Muslims and Islam faulty of their wrong deeds.
Islamic clothing is also being disrespected. Burkas and headscarves are thought to be clothing which hide weapons such as bombs and guns. However, this can be considered very stupid. Women wear such things to cover their body and hair as per the rules of Islam but this does not also mean that every Muslim woman should adorn it. It is their choice and should only be theirs. In addition, mosques are also being affected. Their is a rising fear within the Islamic community that there may be various attacks of vandalism or such on mosques. This sort of fear should have not been there in the first place.
In conclusion, Muslims are facing several issues in the modern world. These issues and the way the government or general public is dealing with them is appalling. Unfortunately, alone there is nothing we can do about it but together we can bring along a change. And just remember, just because you are or a person is Muslim, it does not necessarily mean that they or you are bad and in fact that they or you are human just like everybody else.
